The list of the Top 20 scoring midfielders since 2000 has been released and the results are amazing

There’s nothing like a midfielder who contributes with goals but every now and again one comes along that scores so many that it’s like having an additional striker on the team.

It’s great having a midfielder who can pick out a pass that nobody else sees but some of the greatest ever were more famous for scoring than creating and a list of the Top 20 has been released.

Statistics website Transfermarkt has released a Top 20 table of the highest scoring midfielder players since the year 2000 and the results are amazing.

Topping the poll with an outrageous tally of 261 goals is former Chelsea superstar Frank Lampard with Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard in second spot with 206 goals.

The next 18 are a mixture of obvious and sometimes surprising results so here is the top 20 ranking from 20 to 1.

20. Ola Toivonen – 117 goals in 397 games
