The British government are “ready and waiting” to step in an host the entire Euro 2020 football tournament if they’re asked repost The Sun.
MPs have warned that forcing teams to zigzag around Europe while the pandemic is still raging is a “biohazard disaster” waiting to happen.
The President of the Albanian FA, Armand Duka, suggested the entire tournament could be moved to England following the country’s amazing rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The British government plans to get crowds back into stadiums by the 17th of May and according to Mr.Duka it puts the UK in pole position to host the entire tournament.
Mr.Duka said: “The hope is that Euro 2020 can be played with 50 per cent of fans in the stands.
“It’s possible that Euro 2020 will be played solely in England.
“There are still four or five months left, let’s see if the situation will change. If not, England remains a possibility.”
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that football fans can return to stadiums from May 17th at the earliest.
Wembley is one of the chosen venues for the tournament and will play host to seven matches, including all three of England’s group games, a last-16 tie, both semi-finals and the final.
Should the rollout of fans being allowed into stadiums work, Wembley may be able to have a crowd of up to 45,000 people which will be the biggest event the UK will have held since early 2020.
