The Community Shield – 5 Things We Can Expect

Posted by

The Community Shield is just around the corner and it features two of London’s biggest clubs, Chelsea and Arsenal.

The game is sure to be a cracker and we’ve compiled 5 things you can expect to see during the much anticipated season opener.

The Parked Bus

We’ve all become familiar with Chelsea’s famous tactic so don’t be surprised if Jose Mourinho decides to park it because the man will do anything to get his hands on some silverware.

Should the bus not do it’s job you can be sure Mourinho will blame the result on the Referee or Arsene Wenger’s weight.

Petr Cech Wearing Red

Petr Cech will be playing against his former club for the first time and is coming in off the back of an impressive Emirates Cup.

The question is will the ex-Chelsea Goalkeeper be able to outwit his former team-mates without a bus parked in front of him?

Alexis Sanchez vs Eden Hazard

Arguably the best players in the Premier League last season will come head to head this Sunday and it’s sure to be entertaining.

Mourinho rates Hazard as highly as Ronaldo and Messi and Sanchez has won several Twitter polls recently so hopefully both men can provide on the day, #WatchThisSpace.

The After Match Excuses

It’s almost a guarantee that whoever loses this Sunday will have several poor excuses as to why their team were unsuccessful.

Excuses which will be closely followed by comments such as “We never cared about it”, “It’s just a dinner plate” and “It’s just a friendly and means nothing.”

Either way the excuses should be interesting.

Wenger vs Mourinho

Possibly the best part of Arsenal v Chelsea is the rivalry between the managers.

Over the years both managers have used sly comments and mind games to try and get an edge over their opponent.

The most recent coming coming from Mourinho when he criticised teams, including Arsenal, for trying to buy the league, despite the fact that Chelsea’s have pretty much bought all of their league titles.
