The incredibly puzzling scorecards from last night’s fight between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall have been revealed.
Catterall produced an almost punch-perfect display that, for the bulk of the boxing community, will have had him some way in the lead on the cards.
As the fight progressed and round eight went to nine, you thought for certain that Taylor would need a stoppage in order to win the fight, having been knocked down after a string of lost rounds.
When you consider that Taylor was actually deducted a point later in the fight, there’s absolutely no way that he could have been up on any of the judges’ scorecards, let alone two of them.
The full cards have now been revealed, with one judge having scored the contest 114-111. There needs to be an inquest to decipher how on earth he came to that conclusion…
