Talksport presenters CLASH over England managerial debate 🗣️

Even with Gareth Southgate confirming his stay as England manager, the debate around the Three Lions’ managerial position rages on.

Before Southgate confirmed his stay with England, many names were being banded around as his replacement, most notably Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochetttino and Eddie Howe.

Howe is currently the only one of those three currently in a job but none of the trio have ever dipped their toes into international management, and Natalie Sawyer made the point to Jamie O’Hara on Talksport that the difference between the two types of managerial scene is a big factor in why appointing someone like Tuchel would be a risk.

The managers that are out there who could do better [than Southgate] are Graham Potter, Eddie Howe and Thomas Tuchel.” said O’Hara.

Sawyer then responded, saying: “Being an international manager is entirely different to being a club manager, you get to work with your players every day with your club.

The whole point of the international scene is that you have a lot less time to work with your players. It’s an entirely different style of management.”

Southgate’s decision to stay on as England boss means he will remain in charge until at least after Euro 2024, with his contract set to expire in December of that year.

For now though, England fans will have to warm to the fact that the 52-year old is here to stay.
