Steven Gerrard remains keen on bringing Luis Suarez to Aston Villa, according to The Athletic.
Suarez was initially linked with a move to Villa Park after the Midlands club pulled off the improbable January loan acquisition of former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.
Coutinho, who was unable to live up to expectations at the Nou Camp, has been a revelation for Villa since his arrival and you imagine they will be ready to break the bank to sign him permanently this summer.
However, Coutinho may not be the only former Liverpool and Barcelona star who will be joining Stevie G at Villa, with The Athletic reporting that he is also monitoring Luis Suarez’s situation at Atletico Madrid.
Suarez appears set to leave the Wanda Metropolitano at the season’s end, with Gerrard understood to have one eye on the possibility of bringing him to Villa when the transfer window opens up.
The Uruguayan is not the player he once was, but even if he’s a fraction of it, he would still be a worthwhile player to have in the squad at Villa. You can certainly see why Gerrard would be tempted.
