Ranger boss Steven Gerrard has sent a message to Neil Lennon following his decision to resign as Celtic manager.

According to Metro Gerrard said to reporters: ‘I can’t say I’m surprised because of what’s been going on over there this season ‘I obviously take no personal satisfaction from any manager losing their job. ‘I wish him well for the future.’

Lennon resigned with from his position at the Celtic mainly due to poor form and the club being 18 points adrift of Rangers in the Scottish Premiership reports the BBC.

Lennon took charge of the Scottish giants for a second time in February of 2019 when Brendan Rodgers left and led the club to two titles, two Scottish Cups and a League Cup.

Celtic currently trail their bitter city rivals Rangers by 18 points in the league as Steven Gerrard’s men look set to win the league and a bitter defeat to Ross County on Sunday was the last straw for Lennon.

Assistant manager John Kennedy will take interim charge of the team until a suitable replacement is found for Lennon.
