The Springboks took on the Azzurri on Saturday afternoon and from one of the restarts in the game the South African’s deliberately played for a scum on the half-way line by having the kick not go the 10 metres and one of their players being offside.

The punishment is that possession is turned over to Italy. If SA want to turn possession over to Italy & give up at least 10, but probably more than 30 meters territory then that’s their choice. Don’t get so worked up over a different approach that breaks the tedium
Also Italy violated over 20 laws in most breakdowns last weekend and weren’t correctly penalized for it. Never saw a single post about intentional infringement. Not even one.

Maybe kicking short was something they were going to do the whole game and it just went wrong? But we wouldn’t know as we never restarted play again… Don’t forget, Italy went score less.

I agree. The Springboks should actually be demoted. Playing to win, especially against a much weaker team, surely must be against the spirit of the game!

That’s interesting but not surprising! The competition is so close! To be consistently succesful they will have to think on their feet. Bending the rules is a skill…For example, playing for a penalty in football if you have unsuccessfully tried every other way of scoring. Is that cheating or being smart…?
