GAA: St Thomas’ win Galway title, Blackrock win in Cork

There were county finals across the country today, with St Thomas’ claiming the Galway SHC title while Blackrock did the same in Cork.

It was three in a row for St Thomas’ as they came from behind to beat Turloughmore on a 1-14 to 0-15 scoreline.

Captain Conor Cooney scored 1-06 for St Thomas’, with all of the points coming from frees.

Blackrock beat Glen Rovers after extra-time in a stunning encounter that went to extra-time. The final scoreline saw them win by eight points, 4-26 to 4-18, but they only pulled away in the dying minutes.

Robbie Cotter scored two of the goals while Alan Connolly registered a stunning personal tally of 0-13.

Meanwhile, Dessie Conneely kicked 1-09 as Maigh Cuilinn won their first Galway SFC title.

In Derry, Slaughtneil beat Magherafelt in the county SFC final.
