As we draw into October and the inter-county season looms, the last of the county championships are nearing their deciders.
This weekend sees deciders in Cork, Derry and Limerick, while Galway’s county finals in both codes will be sure to draw a lot of attention.
Kingscourt Stars will take on Crosserlough for the Cavan Senior Football title at 5pm today after the pairs last encounter ended in 2-12 deadlock. Kingspan Breffni will be the venue once again as the later will be attempted to bridge a 48-year senior title gap.
Continuing north, St Eunan’s will come up against Setanta in the Donegal Senior Hurling championship in O’Donnell Park at 4pm, with the match being covered live by RTÉ Radio na Gaeltachta.
Also today, the Kildare Senior Football championship will come to a head, as Athy play Moorefield at 4.30pm. 2018 champions Moorefield will be favourites to take the win, but Athy will be hopeful they can claim their first title since 2011.
There’s a full itinerary of finals on Sunday as well, starting with the big one in Galway: St Thomas against Turloughmore.
Throw-in for the Senior Hurling final in Kenny Park will be at 2pm, before the county’s football final plays out between Moycullen and Mountbellew-Moylough in Pearse Stadium at 4pm.
Mountbellew-Moylough pulled off quite the upset last weekend to knock All-Ireland champions Corofin out of contention and will be formidable opponents, flying high on the back of that 2-13 to 0-12 semi-final win.
In Meath, the Senior Football final between Rataoth and Gaeil Colcille will be televised of TG4 at 2.15pm, while the Westmeath Senior Hurling final between Castletown Geoghegan throws in at 4pm.
2017 Derry Senior Football champions Slaughtneil will face current titleholders O’Donovan Rossa Magherafelt in Bellaghy, getting underway at 4.30pm.
Finally, in Munster Adara take on Ballylanders at 2pm in the Gaelic Grounds for the Limerick Senior Football title, before Glen Rovers clash with Blackrock in the Cork Senior Hurling championship.
The Cork final will be televised from Páirc Uí Chaoimh on TG4 with throw-in at 4pm.
