Simone Biles – what a champion. The greatest gymnast of all-time is set to make her Tokyo 2020 return at the balance beam final, reports the Mirror.
Biles pulled out of the women’s team finals earlier in Tokyo 2020, citing struggles with her mental health, and has not appeared since.
Heading into the games, the American was predicted to be one of the stars, as she has often proven to be, but this summer she has faced struggles like never before.
With Biles facing battles in her mind which were seemingly difficult to overcome, it remains unclear whether we’d be seeing her again before the end of Tokyo 2020.
As per the Mirror, USA Gymnastics have now confirmed that Biles will be pulling up her socks – so to speak – and competing in the balance beam final on Tuesday.
She will have the whole world cheering her on, with Biles having taught an entire generation that protecting their mental health is paramount, whatever the circumstances.
She’s an inspiration to all.
