Days after England’s defeat to France in the World Cup semi-final, Simon Jordan has criticised Harry Kane over his crucial penalty miss.

England were 2-1 down, struggling to create clear-cut chances when France gifted them a penalty to make it 2-2. Harry Kane stepped up, with almost every Three Lions fan expecting to see the net ruffle before their eyes, only to see the ball fly over the bar.

So was it unlucky, or did Harry Kane ‘bottle it’? TalkSport pundit Simon Jordan has given his opinion…

Speaking on TalkSport, Jordan said: “If you succumb to the pressure, which I think Harry Kane did because the goalkeeper didn’t save the ball, Harry Kane put the ball over the bar, then there is an element of succumbing to the pressure which then moves into the territory of saying ‘you bottled it a little bit’.

“If succumbing to the pressure is what you’ve done, then there is an element of ‘you’ve lost your bottle at that particular moment’. It doesn’t make you a ‘bottler’ per se, it means in that moment you were beaten by the circumstances.”

One thing is for sure though, that miss will stay with Harry Kane for the rest of his life, and he will most certainly be looking for redemption at UEFA Euro 2024.
