Roberto Martinez joined the Red Devils in August 2016 after leaving Everton, an appointment that surprised many football fans.
However, Martinez managed to guide Belgium to the semi-finals of the 2018 World cup, where they lost to eventual champions France, which catapulted the national team to number 1 in the world rankings.
Despite now being replaced at the top by Brazil, there were high hopes for the nation to possibly go all the way in Qatar, but Martinez’s side are in danger of being eliminated at the group stage, a situation that could become a reality if they lose to Croatia on Thursday.

Simon Jordan spoke this morning, believing that this could be Martinez’s last hurrah in charge of Belgium.

“He [Martinez], like other managers who have had so called “Golden Generations”, hasn’t delivered. When you look at the composition of the playing squad he’s had, the last six years have been a real lost opportunity.
“You won’t find another group, like this one he has now, with an end product. This situation will tell you Martinez will probably depart from the team sooner rather than later.”
Belgium’s game against Croatia on Thursday kicks off at 15:00 BST.
