There’s no such thing as a ‘friendly’ at Atletico Madrid with Diego Simeone at the helm, is there?
The reigning champions of Spain are renowned for being a feisty side, with Simeone having been passed the baton as the master of the dark arts by Jose Mourinho.
While that does often give them an edge in games, hence why they beat Real Madrid and Barcelona to the title, there’s not much need for it in friendly matches.
Still, that didn’t stop Yannick Carrasco from kicking off and seeing red during a friendly with Feyenoord on Sunday afternoon, with Simeone storming the pitch to tell his player off.

Really we shouldn’t be surprised with anything that Atletico produce under Simeone, we’ve seen it all before, but a brawl in a non-competitive match, egged on by the fans, with the manager then running onto the pitch to get involved – that’s belligerent even by their standards…
