🚨 Shock name tipped to replace Gareth Southgate as England manager after Euro 2024

It’s widely expected that this will be Gareth Southgate’s last tournament as England boss and Gary Lineker thinks Frank Lampard shouldn’t be ‘disregarded’.

The former Chelsea star has not had the best of times in management, with his last appointment being the disastrous second stint as the Blues head coach – winning just one of his 11 games in charge.

But, speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast former Man City defender Micah Richards praised Lampard’s analysis following England’s win against the Swiss on penalties after he had joined them for the BBC’S coverage of the match.

He said: “I was glued to his analysis for three minutes. You can tell he’s articulate, the way he explains points. You can tell there’s a manager there inside of him.”

Lineker then responded: “There’s no question about that. I think he’s been a bit unlucky in his managerial career in some ways. He gets it tactically.”

“I think this will be Gareth Southgate’s last tournament whatever happens. If he wins I think he’ll absolutely bow out and if he doesn’t then I think he’ll bow out. It will be his decision.

“But, I wouldn’t disregard Frank Lampard [To replace Southgate]. I think he tactically gets it. I think the players would respect him immediately.

“Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself here but if you’re going to go English you think who else? Eddie Howe maybe?”

  1. Ange Postecoglou if he could be bought out of Spurs contract. Not English but close enough culturally and wants to play football but maybe restricted at Spurs due to current squad.
