This year’s Royal Rumble is being held in San Antonio, Texas from the Alamodome for the first time in over twenty years.
Speculation of a Texas wrestling legend such as Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Sting or The Undertaker returning for the Royal Rumble has been circulating making it one of the biggest events in recent memory but when it comes to rumours of a return for one of these stars, ‘The Heart Break Kid’ Shawn Michaels is topping that list.
Reports have surfaced that the WWE has attempted numerous times to get the former WWE champ to return to the ring. One of the most notable instances was where Wrestlemania 32 took place in Texas and ‘The Heart Break Kid’ refused to return for the show of shows in his home state.
Michaels’ last match in the WWE was at Wrestlemania 26 in Arizona when he lost his ‘Streak vs. Career’ match to The Undertaker in the main event of the show. Michaels and Taker had put on quite the performance, stealing the show in the process, the previous year back in Houston, Texas at Wrestlemania 25.
