According to the Irish Examiner Shane Lowry, Who is still the Champion Golfer of the year is set to sponsor his native county Offaly for upcoming Championships. Shane Lowry’s family would be steeped in GAA with his father Brendan winning that famous football All-Ireland in 1982 against that great Kerry team, denying them the five in a row. Michael Duignan who is head of Offaly GAA will be delighted with this news with all the fund raising Duignan has been doing for the faithful county over the years.

This is great news for Offaly GAA and God knows they could do with it. The GAA is only amateur is name these days with the likes of Dublin and Limerick taking it to another level. Offaly were always a great GAA county in both codes Hurling and Gaelic football. But have sadly lacked the finances that the other county’s have and has helped the likes of the ‘dubs’ and Limerick to push ahead and life the Sam Maguire and Liam McCarthy cups.
