Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

After months of speculation, the midfielder has decided to draw the curtain on a 15-year stint with the first team and an even longer spell with the club as a whole.

He announced his decision in a video released by Barcelona, which documents his journey from the youth team all the way to captain of the club, which you can see below.

Busquets will leave the club as its third most capped player, with his 719 (and counting) appearances placing him behind only former teammates Lionel Messi and Xavi in the all-time list.

He has also won a staggering 31 trophies, including three Champions Leagues and eight La Ligas. He will add one more league title to his resume before departing and lifting it will be a perfect send off for one of the club’s true greats.

Where he goes next has not yet been announced but all indicators point towards Saudi Arabia, where he might once again link up with his old running buddy Messi.
