New low for Man United £73m struggler as management line up DEFENSIVE role

A shock report by The Athletic claims that Manchester United are trialling summer signing Jadon Sancho as a right wing-back.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer switched to a back three system following the heavy defeat against Liverpool in hope of tightening things up at the back.

Unfortunately for Jadon Sancho, there is now no clear route into the starting XI. He’s dropped to the bench already, having only arrived from Borussia Dortmund in a £73m deal over the summer.

Ole appears to have a plan B, one which would see Sancho get back into the team, but it’s difficult to imagine the England international being particularly keen on it.

According to The Athletic, Solskjaer and co have been using Sancho at right wing-back in training amid concerns that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is too weak going forward to play the role.

Man United do have Diogo Dalot in reserve, who has all the necessary attributes to play that role, but there appears to be some real intention to shoehorn Sancho into the team.

It’s difficult to imagine that ending well for anyone…
