Ruben Amorim will hold showdown Man Utd talks next week after Grimsby loss

Ruben Amorim will hold showdown talks with Manchester United over his future after the midweek defeat against Grimsby Town.

The Red Devils lost 1-0 against Arsenal in the opening round of the Premier League, and managed a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage last week.

Despite spending heavily this summer, his troubled reign has hit a new low, as United were knocked out by fourth-tier Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.

Amorim said after the match that some players had ‘spoken loudly’ about what they wanted to happen.

According to a report from The Sun, Amorim is expected to hold talks over his future in the next week, although he retains the full support of the club hierarchy.

United face a home game against Burnley on Saturday, followed by Manchester City and Chelsea after the international break, and results from those fixtures will determine his future.

If the Red Devils lose points against Burnley this week, surely Amorim will come under intense pressure. United could then look for other options such as Jose Mourinho, who has left Fenerbache after their Champions League defeat against Benfica.
