🚨 RTÉ break silence following Cork v Limerick outrage

RTÉ Sport have issued a statement following the widespread outrage that Cork and Limerick’s division one hurling clash was not set to be broadcast.

The failure to screen the showdown left fans from both counties absolutely fuming as they flocked to social media to criticise the decision.

Part of the anger was aimed at the broadcaster RTÉ who have now released a brief statement.

They wrote: ‘RTÉ sought Cork-Limerick in the Allianz Hurling League as our match selection a number of months ago but the counties could not accommodate. RTÉ subsequently chose Armagh-Tyrone.’

Fans reacted to the post on x formerly Twitter.

One said: ‘So you’re saying Cork couldn’t accommodate an RTE truck pulling up with camera equipment but can accommodate 30,000 supporters?

Great excuse from RTE.’

Another added: ‘This is quite embarrassing 😳 god help us for when championship comes around.’

A third commented: ‘In what world is it up to the counties themselves to decide? What a joke. How disrespectful that is from limerick and cork.’

A fourth pointed out: ‘Seems RTE being economical with the truth: RTE wanted change of time for Lim v Cork thereby setting up a direct clash with Ir v England rugby match.’
