The former Manchester and Irish captain was on Sky Sports on Saturday evening with Graeme Souness and Jermain Defoe. The Irishman was missed big time the week before Manchester United vs Liverpool as Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher ran all over Gary Neville.

The poppy has long be a controversial one for Irish people, especially with the history Ireland has with England. James McClean and other have made their thoughts very clear in the past over wearing the Poppy. Roy doesn’t see any problem though and continues to wear it every year.

  1. Roy and Martin oneill wore poppies at a champions league game in Milan when they were managing Ireland,at a time when mcclean was getting dogs abuse.

  2. When I remember the thousands of Irishmen who were wounded or died whilst serving in the British forces I also remember the lack of employment in
    Ireland, the difficulties of gaining work in England and the fact that most of these men were the only source of money for their families! They were Irishmen who put their families above their own feelings. They deserve to be remembered and honoured!

  3. Good God, Ireland. Grow up! 60,000 Irish fought in the British Army to rid Europe of the Nazis while Ireland sat back and did nothing. The shame is on you, not Roy wearing a poppy to commemorate people who had courage, dignity and a conscience.
