The former Munster, Irish and Lions Out-half has signed a new deal to stay with the French club La Rochelle until 2024. There were a lot of Munster fans hoping that the Cork man would make a return to his native province and get back into the coaching role at Munster.

Munster have had another disappointing season this year losing to Leinster in the Pro14 final and crashing out to Toulouse in the quarter-finals of Europe. In truth Munster look a long way off getting back to winning trophies that they use back in 2006 and 2008 when they won the Heineken Cup and in 2009 when they lifted the Pro12 trophy.

Would Ronan O’Gara help Munster get back to winning ways? There’s no doubt that his done an excellent job wherever his gone and is learning a lot at the likes of La Rochelle, The Crusaders and not forgetting Racing 92. Surely a future Munster coach in the making?
La Rochelle have confirmed a new three-year contract for Ronan O'Gara through to 2024.
With Jono Gibbes leaving for Clermont, O'Gara will be the main man at La Rochelle.
