The former Ireland and Munster Out-half Ronan O’Gara had a glittering career be it for Munster, Ireland or the Lions. But in that time he did have a few bad days at the office, which is bound to happen when you’re the main man in the ten role. World Rugby have added a lot of former players to their Hall of Fame this week, including Scotland’s Jim Telfer and England’s Will Carling.
The La Rochelle coach Ronan O’Gara was added to the Hall of Fame back in 2018 and Tier Two rugby on twitter has taken objection to this. Especially when you consider some of the legends that have been left out of the Hall of Fame so far, including Christian Cullen, Tana Umaga and Paul O’Connell to name but a few.
World Rugby's Hall of Fame lost credibility in my opinion when they inducted Ronan O'Gara (not even top 10 best fly halves of his era) before numerous far greater more deserving players like Christian Cullen or Tana Umaga who are genuine all time greats.https://t.co/iwoWGJZpkU

ROG vs Wales in 2011 QF. Kidney picked him over Sexton (who that year dragged Leinster to an epic European Cup win with a MoM performance). Also (like previous clips) demonstrates again the myth that he was greatest touchfinder sport has seen. Did ROG ever have a great RWC match? pic.twitter.com/RNbIN2JA96

"But Grand Slam" some still thinking ROG an all time great say. Firstly Hal Luscombe is Grand Slam winner. Hardly makes him a Hall of Fame player. Secondly ROG was hardly great in that GS year and very nearly blew it vs England with dreadful day with the boot in a 1 point game. pic.twitter.com/vb0HLwhTsc

Still find it funny how long Declan Kidney went on picking O'Gara and his supposed legendary mastermind tactical kicking game. It finally finished after one comic howler too many vs Scotland. pic.twitter.com/9JYeNwTzSH

You wondering why the NZ commentators were having a chuckle there at ROG making tackle? Because he spent the entire tour up to that point being a total turnstile and missing tackles constantly of course. pic.twitter.com/vW92EDxgW5

Also even O'Gara's reputation as the great European Cup legend is still a tad overrated considering he produced (alongside Brock James vs Leinster) one of the biggest kicking chokes in the tournament's history in a one point game in the 2000 final. pic.twitter.com/Q8h5Wb2Llg

Surely this is unfair from Tier 2 rugby, we all have off days and O’Gara did have quite a few, but he did play for Ireland for ten plus years and achieved quite a lot…
Ignorance is bliss for all the previous comentators.
