David Beckham’s son makes his professional football debut in America

Romeo Beckham made his professional football debut for Inter Miami’s reserve team Fort Lauderdale CF on Sunday.

Romeo, who is a right-winger by trade, not too dissimilar from his father, has been given an opportunity to impress by Fort Lauderdale CF in the third tier of American football.

Unfortunately for the teenager, his side were held to a 2-2 draw on their home turf with South Georgia Tormenta FC. Romeo was unable to have the desired impact on the night.

The romantics among the football community will take great pleasure out of seeing another of the Beckham clan flying down the right channel.

Romeo does not possess anything like the quality that his father did, but he’s still 19-years-old and should not be judged based on his first ever appearances as a professional footballer.

Of course, there will be those who hold it against Romeo that he is likely only playing for Fort Lauderdale CF because of his surname, but he deserves as much support and opportunities as any other young footballer vying their trade.
