MAJOR update on Romelu Lukaku’s Chelsea future with negotiations now underway

Posted by

Negotiations are reportedly underway over Romelu Lukaku completing a sensational return to Inter Milan after just one year away from the San Siro.

Lukaku, who signed for Chelsea in a deal worth a reported £97m last summer, endured a miserable first year at Stamford Bridge after he failed to find his form and subsequently fell out of favour.

There have also been substantiated reports that the Belgian has a frosty relationship with manager Thomas Tuchel, another factor which has left him entertaining the idea of leaving the club this summer.

Thankfully for Romelu, there appears to be equal desire in Milan to make a deal happen. Talks are now reportedly ongoing over an initial loan deal which would see Lukaku return to Inter before the summer is done.

Were Lukaku to leave on a deal of this kind, you would imagine that Chelsea would want a guarantee of a pretty hefty sum coming their way after the initial loan period came to an end – whether that be next year or in 2024.

Just how much Inter can promise the Blues is unclear at this point, but considering they recently surrendered their Serie A crown to their city rivals, you can understand the desperation for a summer statement signing.
