Rio Ferdinand believes “both parties will be delighted” after Ronaldo gets the boot

Despite the ongoing World Cup, we yet again find ourselves talking about Cristiano Ronaldo.

It came as a shock to no one that Manchester Utd had terminated the contract of their number 7 after his controversial interview with Piers Morgan. The interview was released last week and obviously left the Man Utd hierarchy, manager and even teammates fuming.

Since the statement was released by the club, many people have expressed their opinion on the decision. Most recent of which was Rio Ferdinand, who was on the BBC panel covering Mexico vs Poland.

Ronaldo’s former teammate expressed that both parties will be happy.

“I think both parties will be delighted,”

“He did that interview with the mindset that he wanted to get out. He wasn’t happy, he made it very clear. Ten Hag has got what he wanted as well. Both parties are happy and it’s time for the next chapter for Cristiano Ronaldo.” Ferdinand said.

When discussing Ronaldo’s next move Ferdinand questioned the player’s motivation.

“It depends what the motivation is, is it Champions League? Is it money? Is it to continue playing somewhere with a nice climate? This will be going on behind the scenes but we’ll find out in due course.”

One thing is for sure, Ronaldo will never play for Manchester Utd again.
