Real Madrid’s demise continues with Carlo Ancelotti set to welcome back North London riff-raff

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid squad is set to be bolstered by three returnees from North London, according to reports in Spain.

Ancelotti was supposed to be building something special at Goodison Park, but the opportunity to return to Madrid was too good to pass up for the Italian.

While he will be hoping that Los Blancos splash out in the transfer market to strengthen ahead of next season, they also appear intent on utilising what they already have.

According to Spanish outlet AS, all three of Dani Ceballos, Martin Odegaard and Gareth Bale will be staying at the Santiago Bernabeu next campaign.

Ceballos spent two years on loan at Arsenal and very rarely did anything of note, while Odegaard showed flashes of quality but contributed little during his six-month spell at the Emirates.

As for Gareth Bale, he was used sparingly by Jose Mourinho, but was effective when on song. It does remain to be seen, though, just how much drive he has to play for Real Madrid.

None of the three are terrible footballers, but the fact they could be playing first-team football under Ancelotti next term, after average at best loan spells, shows just how far the mighty have fallen.
