Real Madrid look to Man City in search of Kylian Mbappe alternative

Real Madrid have reportedly turned their attention to Manchester City star Raheem Sterling after missing out on Kylian Mbappe.

Florentino Perez could have been forgiven for thinking that he had the Mbappe deal wrapped up – we all did. However, the Frenchman made the surprise decision to extend his Paris Saint-Germain contract by a further three years.

With Erling Haaland now off the market and signing for Manchester City, Perez can ill afford to waste any time in the transfer market through fear of falling behind those competing for both La Liga and the Champions League.

Naturally, with question marks over their respective futures, you wondered if Real Madrid would look to Liverpool and attempt to prise either Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane away from the Premier League runners-up.

However, according to the Daily Star, Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, who has been linked with the Etihad exit door over the past six months or so, is the player that Perez has identified as his new top transfer target.

The report claims that a £50m fee could be enough to convince City to sell. That would see them recoup what they paid Liverpool, even with Sterling’s contract due to expire in the summer of 2023.
