Ralf Rangnick speaks on Mason Greenwood for first time since Man United star’s arrest

Ralf Rangnick, speaking to the media today, discussed the situation surrounding Mason Greenwood for the very first time.

The Manchester United manager, just like the rest of the football community, will have been left in a state of shock following the allegations which were made against his player by his girlfriend Harriet Robson on Sunday.

Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, with those charges later being extended to sexual assault and threats to kill. Needless to say, even with the 20-year-old now out on bail, he is not available for Rangnick’s selection.

Rangnick faced the press on Thursday for the very first time since the Greenwood allegations came to light. He was asked if the arrest has proven to be a distraction for his players, to which he replied, as quoted by The Sun:

“We had a good normal week of training with five training sessions including today’s training, obviously it was a topic within the team but they’re human beings and Mason was part of the group before we had our break.”

“It was a good week of training, we could train under normal circumstances and we are looking forward to the game tomorrow.”

Man United host Middlesbrough in the FA Cup tomorrow night. Greenwood will have to watch the game from home on television, having been told by his club that he will not be allowed to play until further notice.
