Ralf Rangnick ALREADY making weak excuses after underwhelming Manchester United start

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick is already making excuses for his slow start to life in the Premier League.

As Rangnick signed a short-term deal with the Red Devils following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, you could be forgiven for thinking that the German was the second coming of Jesus Christ himself.

Man United fans hailed him as the godfather of tactics, with both Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel being named as his disciples. We are yet to see any evidence of that in his Man United career to date, though.

In fact, United were as bad against Newcastle midweek as they were under Solskjaer – which is saying something. Rangnick has now attempted to think up an excuse for why he hasn’t made any progress thus far.

Granted, having Carrington shut down was not ideal for Man United, but neither is the 4-2-2-2 FIFA Ultimate Team-esque formation that he is attempting to shoehorn his players into. They all look like square pegs in round holes.

Rangnick is fast looking like a manager with very little actual hands-on coaching experience in the last decade. Perhaps there’s a reason that he’s made it this far in his career without actually achieving anything…
