Ralf Rangnick’s past comments about Luke Shaw don’t bode well for the Manchester United defender.
News broke on Thursday afternoon that Rangnick was set to be appointed Man United interim manager for what remains of the season, with a view to him moving upstairs next summer.
The departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the subsequent appointment of Rangnick provides a clean slate for many of the players, but one has cause for concerns ahead of the German’s arrival.
That player is Luke Shaw, who Rangnick has previously discussed in the media and revealed that he’s not a particularly big fan of the England international left-back…
Ralf Rangnick in 2020: “They [Manchester United] could do with a left-back, I know they have Luke Shaw but I’m not so sure if he’s still on the same kind of level you need to be for a club like Manchester United.” [@footballdaily] #MUFCpic.twitter.com/qW7f0mrFSD

Of course, you imagine that Rangnick will take a good look at Shaw in training before making any drastic decisions like dropping him to the bench.
Still, he’s arriving at the club under the impression that Shaw is not good enough. With Alex Telles waiting in the wings, there could be difficult times on the horizon for the EURO 2020 final goal-scorer.
