After their loss to Senegal, Qatar has been ejected from the tournament, the earliest of any host nation ever!
South Africa was the only other host nation to be eliminated in the group stage but they lasted a game longer and even got a win over France.

The World Cup did not get off to a good start, the opening game didn’t come close to resembling a competitive fixture. Qatar was easily outclassed by Ecuador, losing 2-0 in a game that could’ve cured insomnia. This was the first time a host nation lost the opening game of the World Cup and it didn’t get any better for Qatar from there.
The 3-1 defeat to Senegal sealed their faith and has again raised the question, of why have they been given the World Cup.
The most money spent on the World Cup, the most controversial tournament and now the worst host nation in history. It certainly didn’t go the way they envisioned.
