One gambler in England showed nerves of steel last night and was rewarded with returns of £45,865.05 for a £5 bet.
The punter had selected six games being played in the UK and in each case had chosen a winner and backed each team to score during the individual matches.
By yesterday evening, five of the matches had played out as predicted, with only the Premier League meeting of Everton and West Brom still to go.

This is when the punter’s fortitude was put to the test. The bookmaker involved, William Hill, offers a ‘cash out’ option for customers who make accumulator bets.
This allows the gambler to take a smaller amount as winnings and not wait on the final selection to be played.
In this case, the bookie offered £4196.19 to cash out before the game. A paltry amount compared to the potential winnings, but still an incredible return for a fiver.

The punter in this case decided to let the bet run and was rewarded with a heart attack-inducing two hours of football.
The bet called for Everton to win, but West Brom took the lead in the first half and doubled their lead shortly after the break.
We can only imagine the frayed nerves as the gambler watched the Toffees pull one back, then equalise before scoring the winner only minutes before full-time!
Someone will be celebrating tonight, if they haven't had a heart attack watching that game. Congratulations! pic.twitter.com/5C6GgiGxBC

William Hill tweeted to say they had a very happy customer, although some could hardly believe the gambler had the courage to hold his nerve.
