Cody Gakpo was one of the stars of the World Cup group stages in Qatar, scoring three goals as he was widely praised for his impressive showing, leading to plenty of transfer speculation around the winger.
After his promising showings in Qatar, his club manager Ruud van Nistelrooy believes that the 23-year old is deserving of a chance to play with one of Europe’s elite teams.

Van Nistelrooy’s former side Manchester United are said to be the keenest to sign Gakpo, with the winger notching 13 goals and seven assists for PSV this season.
“It is wonderful how he has showcased himself,” said van Nistelrooy
“I enjoyed watching him at the World Cup and he deserves this because of how he has behaved, how he has continued to work and continued to perform.

“If I have the choice of when to let him move, I prefer the summer, but it can also be now.
“You just know there comes a time when you can’t say no.”
Dutch sides will be sick of the sight of Man United by this point, with the Red Devils having signed Antony and Lisandro Martinez from Ajax in the summer so PSV fans will hope Gakpo stays put beyond January but like van Nistelrooy says, sometimes if a big offer comes in for a player, it is tough to turn down.
