PSG field youngest ever player for Champions League knockout tie

PSG are preparing to field the youngest-ever player to feature in a UEFA Champions League knockout tie this evening.

Warren Zaire-Emery, who is a midfielder, is starting for the French champions against Bayern Munich this season at the age of 16 years, 11 months and six days.

The Frenchman beats the record held by Portuguese youngster Rodrigo Ribeiro who featured for Sporting against Manchester City last year at 16 years and 315 days old.

Zaire-Emery’s inclusion to the team comes after Kylian Mbappe was named on the substitutes bench for the match with a suspected thigh injury.

It is a big moment for the PSG youngster, who has played just 11 minutes of Champions League football this season but boss Christoph Galtier wouldn’t be playing him if he didn’t think he was up to the challenge, so hopefully he writes his name in lights with a top performance tonight.
