Messi officially became a PSG player on Tuesday evening, which ought to mark the end of several days of madness in the streets of Paris, with the fans on a high like no other with the greatest player of all-time heading to France.
Those fans who were out on the Parisien streets sharing their delight that Messi’s impending arrival might have overstepped the mark a little by taking aim at Messi’s former employers Barcelona.
“Puta Barca,” they chanted in celebration of Messi’s signing.
Not only is it disrespectful to a club which has been left reeling by their talisman’s departure, which happened against their will, but they forget that Messi is also a Barcelona fan.
Messi owes everything to Barca, with his affection for the club on full display as he cried at his farewell press conference. Is this really the welcome that he would’ve wanted in Paris’ capital?
