The Premier League has announced that fans in attendance at games this season will be subject to random COVID-19 spot checks.

The new Premier League campaign is set to get underway this weekend, with fans no doubt delighted to be back in stadiums and watching the action unfold in the flesh.

However, as you’d expect when starting a season in the midst of a global pandemic, there will be major changes to their match-day experience.

In order to attend games, fans will either need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation which reflects their double-vaccinated status.

As reported by Sky Sports, fans will also be pulled up by random spot checks to ensure that everything is in order and they are doing what’s necessary.

If you’ve ever been to a Premier League football match, you’ll be aware that the security on the turnstiles is hardly impenetrable, fans will try their luck.

That’s likely why the league’s hierarchy, in tandem with the UK government, will strive to ensure that fans are following the rules and keeping everyone safe.
