Their head coach, Santos, decided it best to vacate the manager position shortly after.

Since then, rumours have been swirling over his potential successor with the likes of Jose Mourinho leading the candidacy.

But it has now been revealed by David Ornstein that former Belgium manager, Martinez, has reached a ‘verbal agreement’ to take over.

This is hugely surprising considering the fact that he embarrassingly left the Belgium team after a horrific World Cup.

Belgium was one of if not the most disappointing teams in the tournament, putting in tragic performances and getting sent home early in the group stage.

There was reportedly unrest in the dressing room, with a lot of the senior players falling out with one another. This is considered the main reason why the team put in such a poor display in Qatar.

Do you think he can redeem himself as t Portugal manager?
