We sit down and talk to the award winning journalist Paul Howard, Paul is the man behind the famous rugby character that is known as Ross O’Carrol-Kelly. Paul talks to us about the success of his character and the changing landscape of journalism. Paul explains what journalism was like when he started to what it is now.
Rugby people and indeed a lot of Irish people will be very familiar with Paul Howard’s work and familiar with the ‘Rugby Jock’ that Ross O’Carroll-Kelly represents. Paul Howard started off as a sports journalist with the Sunday Tribune where he developed his idea of this rugby jock called Ross O’Carroll-Kelly. Paul would have went and covered a lot of the schools rugby matches as a journalist in Leinster and would have overheard all the stories that feature in Ross O’Carroll-Kelly’s books.
