Pep Guardiola has addressed Joao Cancelo’s surprise loan move to Bayern Munich for the first time in public.
The footballing world was shocked when it was announced that the Portuguese defender would be joining Bayern Munich on loan for the rest of the season.
Considering that Manchester City is five points behind Arsenal and is lacking in the left-back position, it seemed a very bold move from Guardiola.

Cancelo hasn’t been at his best this season but is still an incredible player and asset to have at the club. According to reports, there was a falling out between the player and manager which forced the club’s hand.
In his latest press conference, Guardiola revealed that he doesn’t know what will happen when he returns from loan at the end of the season.

“First I wish him the very best in his 4 months,” Guardiola stated.
“‘Next season I don’t know what happens. An incredible figure in the last 2 leagues we won.
“After the World Cup, we make a pre-season and decided to play, in some patterns different. I like what I watch. I give more time to other players. His personality, mine, he loves to play. He trains the best, the situation he doesn’t play much.
“In the last years one of the players with more minutes. He needs to play to be happy, we decide to let him go to Munich.”
