Pep Guardiola has named the six players who he believes are the greatest of all time.

After the sad passing of Brazil legend Pele on Thursday, the footballing world has been paying tribute to one of the greatest ever.

In his most recent press conference, Guardiola joined in on the shared adulation for the three-time World Cup winner.

The Man City manager stated that although he never saw him play that he still regards him as one of the best.

“I never pretend to be Pele, honestly,” he said. “I never saw him play, I spoke with people who said he was the greatest for them.” He said.

Guardiola then named the five players who he would put alongside Pele as the greatest to ever play and be ‘eternal’.

“Pele, [Diego] Maradona, [Johan] Cruyff, [Lionel] Messi, [Franz] Beckenbauer, Cristiano Ronaldo, these players will be eternal.

“They have done many things for many years, these types of players make our business, our job, a better place.

“What he produced for the feeling for the people. We have seen the World Cup, one team can produce for a country, it’s incredible.

“It’s not another event can produce this emotion. This part of exceptional players can produce the emotion for the players.”
