Marseille star Dimitri Payet was attacked by a projectile during his side’s trip to Lyon on Sunday evening.
Crowd trouble in Ligue 1 is becoming rifer and rifer, particularly in games involving Marseille.
As if pitch invasions and staff members throwing punches wasn’t enough to convince those pulling the strings to intervene, they will be forced into action tonight after Dimitri Payet was hurt by a projectile thrown from the stands.
Payet placed the ball down next to the corner flag as he prepared to deliver the ball into the box and a water bottle flew into shot, hitting him behind the back of the ear.

The former West Ham United midfielder required medical treatment on the pitch and the game was suspended to give the players an opportunity to cool their heads and allow the authorities to get the situation under control.
These are concerning scenes and you wonder how long it will be before a footballer is seriously hurt in similar circumstances…
