What a win that was last night for Saracens at a full house at the Rec against Bath. The answer is so incredibly simple, obvious and uncontroversial. Allow opposing teams to concede any Kick, like a Putt in Matchplay Golf. Been saying it for years. Everyone in the Rugby community should get behind the idea. Literally no argument against it.

If it isn’t our old friend, the law of unintended consequences. A handful of kicks timed at over the limit leads to shotclocks leads to loads of kicks being legally slowed. Without the shot clock he’d have been much quicker. Good job everyone who demanded them.

But a goal keeper doesn’t have a shot clock. There’s a clear rule in place and the kickers are within their rights to manage and win the game with the rules that are there.
