Otto Wallin’s promotor eyes former unified heavyweight champion who he can ‘definitely’ knockout

Otto Wallin’s promotor has revealed his belief that he can KO Andy Ruiz Jr if the two heavyweight contenders were to meet in the ring, report Sky Sports.

Wallin defeated American fighter Dominic Breazeale last time out in a convincing UD victory.

That was a major career landmark for the Swede, whose best achievement previously was surviving 12 rounds with WBC champion Tyson Fury – and even leaving him with a serious cut above his right eye.

Tyson Fury’s face was left in quite the state by Otto Wallin

While Fury was able to survive and secure the victory, it did Wallin’s reputation no harm at all, with the win over Breazeale even further confirmation of his credentials as a heavyweight contender.

He’s now looking towards bigger and better things, with promotor Dmitriy Salita having one eye on a bout with former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr.

Salita is quoted by Sky Sports saying:

“Beating Breazeale the way he [Wallin] did shows how much he has improved since the Fury fight.”

“I am sure his size, skills and devotion to his craft is making world class fighters think twice about sharing the ring with him.”

“Otto and Andy gave the toughest challenge to two of the current world heavyweight champions. It makes sense for them to fight, especially if Tyson Fury fights Anthony Joshua [in and undisputed world title fight].”

When asked by Sky Sports whether Wallin could beat Ruiz Jr, by knockout Salita replied:

“Definitely and I believe he has the skills, power and size to do it!”

Ruiz Jr was knocked down by Chris Arreola last time out, but at the end of the 12th round the judges’ scorecards were unanimously in his favour.

He will be looking to rebuild his reputation in order to secure another shot at a world title. Wallin could be a worthwhile opponent for the Mexican, but we’ll have to wait and see if there’s an appetite for it.
