‘I expect him at Man United’ – Ole Gunner Solskjaer delivers update over midfielder’s future

Posted by

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Jesse Lingard is part for his plans for the 2021/22 campaign, report Sky Sports.

Lingard was a forgotten man at Old Trafford, but having enjoyed a hugely successful six-month stint with West Ham, his stock has been on the rise.

As is mentioned in the report, West Ham are interested in signing him on a permanent basis, but with it unclear whether Lingard has a future at Man United, there has been no definitive decision made by the player himself.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now provided some clarification.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Solskjaer has revealed that Lingard is a part of his plans for the upcoming campaign, which won’t make for fond reading for West Ham fans.

“He was one of the positives. He’s a Manchester United player and he wants to fight for his place.”

“He’s come back bright, confident and with lots of energy. I think everyone saw what he did at the end of last season with West Ham.”

“He’s still in my plans. I expect him at Man United at the start of the season.”

It’s unclear whether Man United are trying to maintain their bargaining power with a view to eventually cashing in on Lingard, or perhaps Solskjaer really does want him to stick around.

The Red Devils have a surplus in quality in the attacking areas of the field. Is there really room for Lingard?
