Official: Chelsea confirm Thomas Tuchel contract extension after Champions League triumph

Posted by

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has extended his contract with the Blues until the summer of 2024, the club have confirmed on their official website.

Tuchel took the reins at Stamford Bridge in January, with Frank Lampard having been dismissed, and had an immediate impact, leading them to a top four finish and an unlikely Champions League triumph.

With the German having only initially having signed an 18-month deal, one which would have expired at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, there wasn’t much of a show of commitment from either party.

However, that has now been rectified, with Chelsea confirming that there has been an agreement reached over an extension which will run until the summer of 2024.

Of course, with it being Chelsea, you have to wonder if Tuchel will get even close to surviving to that date, but all the early signs are positive – he looks well equipped to be with the Blues for the long-run.

The first that Roman Abramovich saw of Tuchel’s Chelsea in the flesh was in the Champions League final, which they won. First impressions count, and they don’t get any better than that.
