At 38 years of age former Offaly hurler Brian Carroll has still got it, the Pirlo of hurling scoring 3-15 for his club Coolderry as the defeated Dromcullen 6-27 to 0-9 in the Offaly senior hurling Championship. Carroll was a veteran of the Offaly hurling panel having played for the faithful county for 14 years and captaining Offaly.
Sadly for Brian Carroll Offaly struggled at that time and the good days in Offaly GAA were far and few between, but with Shane Lowry getting involved with his home county, you can expect the good days not to be too far away.

In honour of 38-year-old Brian Carroll's 3-15 for Coolderry yesterday, on #GAAEmbedded today, we'll giving overdue credit to great players born at the wrong time.
What hurlers or footballers were as good as there was but came along when their county team was weaker? pic.twitter.com/JmwfGuPJqR

Auld lads still doing it for their clubs (Part 2)
Brendan Cummins (46) saved 3 penalties in Intermediate relegation semi shootout.
Brian Carroll (38) scored 3-15 for Coolderry (that's not a typo)
Tommy Walsh (38) got a goal for Tullaroan to make it to semi finals
Some men!

Having said that the standard of hurling Limerick are after setting is quite something and will take a lot for any county to match. That Limerick squad are young and have the right manager in charge and are going to be around for sometime to come.
Great to see Offaly getting their house back in order though with the Champion Golfer for 2019 Shane Lowry getting involved and Michael Duignan
