Neymar Facing 6 Month Ban Due To Breach Of Contract

Neymar could be looking at a ban of up to six months as he is accused of allegedly breaching his contract with former club Santos.

Santos are calling for their former child prodigy to be banned for 6 months for the breach, alleging that Neymar has not kept up his side of the deal – without specifying what it is exactly that he’s breached.

Santos President Modesto Roma told Catalan radio Cadena Cope that as well as an improbable ban for Neymar, they want compensation to the tune of 55m euros.

The case has been taken to FIFA and Santos appear to be taking the whole thing very seriously, but assure that it’s nothing personal against Neymar, just a matter of principle.

“In addition to the obligation to pay compensation, sporting sanctions shall also be imposed on any player found to be in breach of contract during the protected period. This sanction shall be a four-month restriction on playing in official matches. In the case of aggravating circumstances, the restriction shall last six months.”

“I filed the case in May. Despite the fact that he is an idol, we are seeking this against Neymar because of things with which we are not in agreement,” Roma in Catalonia on Thursday. “In the transfer things were not clear and transparent.

The court and the Spanish prosecutor have proven it, as have the Brazil courts. It is our understanding that FIFA must be involved in the administrative discussion. There are things that are not right and FIFA must pass judgment.”
