Reports Suggest That Manchester United Are In Talks With José Mourinho

Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with the recently-departed Chelsea manager, José Mourinho, with a whole host of other clubs lining up to sign the two-time Champions League winner.

United have been on the decline since the departure of Sir. Alex Ferguson and the club are desperate to get themselves back to the top and they think Mourinho may be the man to do it.

Jose Mourinho looks to be getting closer to agreeing a deal to take over as manager of Manchester United, with latest reports suggesting that Louis van Gaal is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

Sky Sports Italy’s Alessandro Alciato tweeted on Wednesday evening that a move for Mourinho was approaching, saying: “Mourinho-Manchester United: very close agreement. That derby with City Guardiola!”

United’s rumoured number one target, Pep Guardiola, has agreed a deal to take over as manager of Manchester City at the end of the season which leaves Mourinho as the only ‘top-level’ manager available with Carlo Ancelotti agreeing to move to Bayern Munich.

Portuguese newspaper Diario Noticias report that United are the frontrunners to make Mourinho their next boss, with interest also coming in from Italian clubs AC Milan and AS Roma.

A statement released through his representatives at CAA indicated that he’d be looking for a club sooner or later, saying: “[Jose Mourinho] will not go for a sabbatical year, he did not feel tired or need is very optimistic and is already looking forward.”
